Amethyst is a purple variety of quartz, known for its range of violet hues, from soft lilac and lavender to deep purple. Its color is primarily associated with trace amounts of iron and natural irradiation during the stone’s formation, while variations in tone can occur within the same crystal.

Amethyst occurs in a wide range of natural formations, from individual translucent crystals and polished pieces to crystal clusters, druzy surfaces, geodes, and larger crystalline formations. These different formations can reveal very different textures, levels of transparency, and patterns of color, while natural zoning may create lighter and darker areas within the same stone.
