Moss Agate is a variety of chalcedony, a microcrystalline form of quartz, recognized for its translucent to milky base and distinctive moss-like inclusions. These branching patterns are typically formed by mineral inclusions, often iron or manganese oxides, which create organic shapes reminiscent of foliage, tiny branches, and miniature landscapes within the stone.

Its appearance varies from nearly colorless or milky white to pale green and soft grey, often marked by darker green, brown, or black inclusions. Unlike traditional banded agate, Moss Agate is distinguished by its irregular, plant-like patterns rather than distinct parallel bands. The distribution and density of these inclusions vary naturally, giving each stone a unique internal design.
